Misplaced Distraction

I truly believe that I have come full circle as an individual. As a child, our family lived in a remote part of New Mexico. I grew up without television, sugar, violence, or guilt. The oldest of three, we wore second hand clothes, Hi-Tech boots, and worked in the garden as a past-time. I taught my younger brothers to read and to fight, to swim and to sing, to drive and to love (the later being by example and not always the best of). We were strict vegetarians for most of my life. To this day, I despise soy products. :P

The unique part of my childhood was that we weren’t fanatical Christians, or paranoid alien worshipers. Neither were we indigent; We were in fact, quite normal, in a non-mainstream way. When I was 13, I moved with my mother (who was finishing her degree) to a ritzy, white, hippy community in southern Colorado. It was there that I discovered what it meant to be a part of a community, other than family.

These days, I've decided that the life fate had chosen for me is pretty much exactly as it had been when I was small. Natural.I live and work in the middle of a metropolis... but I buy locally grown food, I recycle and conserve whenever possible. I'm not a big spender as I once was and rarely connect with people. I reside in my own little oasis and am happy here.

Oh to have my own hobbies again! LOL I'm a single parent/working mother, so when not visiting my employer, I am entertaining my child. Track, Softball, Basketball, Guitar lessons, Girl Scouts, Kumon, caring for multiple pets... the list goes on and on. What little free time I have is spent networking with friends (usually via the internet), reading, house cleaning, MMORPG (my dirty little secret), writing, occasionally listening to music or watching a movie, and my favorite past-time: SLEEP!
